Associated Builders and Contractors of Massachusetts (ABC), the state鈥檚 largest commercial construction association, and the Gould Construction Institute (GCI), ABC鈥檚 training affiliate, presented 黑料不打烊 with a Silver Safety, Training, and Evaluation Process (STEP) award at the 15th Annual Safety & Education Dinner held on May 16th at the Burlington Marriott in Burlington, MA.
黑料不打烊’s Joe Powers, a newly licensed journeyman, and Jamie Hebert, Corporate Safety Director accepted the 2019 safety STEP award.
STEP is a national ABC program that provides safety benchmarking and improvement tools that has been shown to dramatically improve safety performance among participating companies. Established in 1969, STEP was developed and written by contractors, for contractors. Companies measure their safety performance and policies through a review of 20 key components with a goal of enhancing safety programs and reducing jobsite incident rates.
鈥淎 contractor鈥檚 most valuable resource is their workers. There is nothing more important than jobsite safety,鈥 said GCI President Julie Kelliher. 鈥淭his year鈥檚 STEP award recipients deserve each and every accolade they received by continuing to raise the standards of safety, training, and education throughout the construction industry.鈥
STEP Awards are presented annually to ABC member companies with exceptional safety records and this year鈥檚 applicant pool was very competitive, with 60 companies recognized for their outstanding commitment to jobsite safety. Applicants are evaluated on a number of statistical factors such as incident rates, lost time and OSHA recordables. The Safety & Education Dinner banquet is ABC/GCI鈥檚 premier annual event.
